The Earth is an Oblate Spherical Shape

Ok, we live in a world where the flat v spherical earth debate faded away over time once scientists proved, with early analogue type devices and through a variety of experiments, that proved the earth was indeed a sphere.

However, sometime around 200 - 250 years ago. A religious organisation emerged that restarted the debate using localised experiments to prove the earth was flat; despite the fact that actual scientific experiments that were non-localised had already proved it was an oblate sphere; this ultimately could not be disputed, but it can be ignored!

Over time, this organisation grew into a following and later became the Flat Earth Society that has around 2 million members "...around the globe". Ironic how they use that in their description considering they have tried to disprove the earth is a globe type shape.

Most of the experiments that have been conducted by Flat Earthers have been localised and most lack any real science behind them. They also claim that gravity does not exist, instead, they say that it's just inertia or momentum?

Perhaps the most ridiculous claims they make are related to the entire area of the earth, which they say is connected; like Pac-man then? Where something reaches one side of the earth and automatically appears on the other side? Hang on, they are falling over themselves as they also claim there is a giant ice-wall that surrounds all the continents and that people just go around and around when they go around the earth?

They try to support their ridiculous claims further by claiming the world governments know we live on a flat disk and inside a dome, and lie to us about the earth being a sphere; why would they do that, and what would anybody gain from that? Such a claim makes zero sense whatsoever.

In order to prove the earth was flat, a so-called scientist built a rocket and tried to prove gravity did not exist. His first experiment failed after his rocket crashed (well duh, that's the pull of gravity).

Now, his second experiment was a success; depending on who is viewing the results of course. For those of us real scientists and people with critical thinking, it was a success as his rocket went up with him in it and his last photo showed the curvature of the earth at low orbit.

But, for the Flat Earthers, the experiment was simply ignored as if it had not even happened? Why? Well, simply because it proved that gravity did indeed exist and also that the earth was a sphere; clearly that's not something they are going to accept and like the other evidence from proven experiments hundreds of years ago they were just going to ignore it?

It's important to understand why these people are so convinced the earth is flat. In order to understand their position, you have to be aware that their view stems from religion.

Most, if not all, Flat Earthers believe that God created the earth in 7 days, and that "he" exists all around us and in the heavens. They don't believe in extra-terrestrial life, nor do they believe in the existence of anything outside what they perceive to be a flat shaped disc inside a dome. Their view is that we are the only lifeforms to exist within gods creation, or some nonsense similarly along those lines.

First of all, religion and the view of God as a man is ridiculous. If such a being existed it would have no need for gender as it would in fact be non-corporeal.

Also, Flat Earthers see all the astral objects in the night sky as suspended objects just above the dome. I did not bother to look into how they explain the rising of the sun though, I think that's going too far round the bend towards insanity.

I will counter the rest of this mumbo jumbo later. But, for now, I want to explore further about their other claims that the entire space program is fake and that man never built rockets and never went to the moon, never launched probes or anything into space.

There are actual videos of astronauts in space on the ISS, as well as other orbital footage they claim is fake. There is also evidence of the planets and other astral bodies that are spherical, including our moon. Yet, what's observed in telescopes is ignored as well.

Ok, here goes:

Some, of the videos from the ISS, had distortions and weird things happened in the backgrounds of either recorded video feeds or live feeds. There was also a type of static in some of the feeds as well. Flat Earthers have had a field day of this and have used this as cannon fodder to prove that all the video feeds are fake and auto-generated.

Those of you who don't know me should know that my background is Computer Science and I have a BSc from that field and another university degree at MSc level.

As such, I understand how distortions can occur in any digital video feed. In simple speak, a video is a series of photos shot across a series of frames at fast speed to create the effect that what is being captured is moving. The frame rate is what gives us the moving pictures. Audio is recorded separately and synchronised to the frame the audio was recorded at.

Now, it's possible for digitally captured images to be affected in a similar way to how physical media analogue camera film can get exposed by sunlight or any substance that damages the film reel.

Just think of what happens when you put on the vacuum cleaner when you are watching the television and how it creates static lines across the screen. The images being displayed are distorted in some way by the background frequency of the vacuum cleaner. This of course a simplified explanation.

Now, apply this to what happens when something is far away and the signal keeps fading in and out. You have to use a booster with something that is transmitting from farther away, otherwise, there would be lossnessless in the signal that affects the quality of the video feed and offsets the audio from the image frames.

Because of the distance, background radiation or any stray frequencies can disrupt the video feed creating digital distortions, and can cause a warping effect.

Not one single member of the Flat Earth Society has ever responded to my question as to how many of them have studied computer science? Because they ignore me, I have to therefore assume that not one single one of them have ever studied for any type of science degree. They are mostly religious followers who claim they are scientists (Talk about delusional).

None of them ever responded to the question as to why world governments would hide the truth about an ice-wall either. Which, makes me wonder if they even know the answer to that question? Or, even if they understand anything about what it is they claim in relation to it; not a single scientific fact to back it up. Rather they claim that the other 7.6 billion people on the planet are brainwashed to believe the earth is a globe? Their ice-wall claim is a catch-all to explain why the water does not fall off the earth and into space.

Though, it only poses more questions as there have been countless explorers who have flown or sailed around the world and some even have video footage; no ice-wall; go figure, just proves it is poppycock.

All the other claims can easily be disputed by using non-localised experiments to see the earth from above the ground in a low orbit, or a high orbit weather balloon that captures the earth as it drifts off into space to show it's spherical shape.

My apologies if this is wordy and scattered writing, even talking about their claims is difficult to write about with a consistent flow.
