Why We Should Be Rejecting Apple Technologies:

We should be rejecting all Apple Technologies because what they do is unsustainable and is centred around profit maximisation. There is a high amount of wastefulness with Apple products; especially with the unnecessary complications and lack thereof support for repairs of certain devices, and restrictions on licensed repair technicians.

I saw a documentary about discarded mobile devices. In that documentary, there was a processing facility in an African country, that receives a high volume of discarded devices from different countries; they end up in 2 piles:

1. Other tech with Android OS

2. Apple devices.

What I discovered is that there are a lot more Android phones in the world than there are Apple phones because they are from different vendors; there are different phone makers making phones for Android devices, and only one making them for iOS devices; Apple.

However, people with Android phones generally keep them longer. Subsequently, far less Android devices end up being discarded. Whereas, Apple phones and devices are often replaced on average every six months and go through 1 or several owners before being discarded completely. This means that more Apple devices are discarded than Android devices.

Though at that processing centre, only the Android devices are processed, and the extracted valuable metals are sold back to the various vendors. The plastics are sold to various manufacturing companies, where they are then melted down and used to make a variety of different things.

Apple devices require special equipment to disassemble, and it's not worth the costs to break them apart.

In addition to this, the idea of a circular economy has been put forward by the EU and other nations. Ultimately, Apple was the only vendor to refuse to change the design of their devices to enable them to be easily repaired and for parts to be swapped out; mainly due to extreme greed and deliberate innovation stifling to retain their position in the markets.

Therefore, if a circular economy is implemented across Europe. All the phone vendors, except Apple, will modify the designs of their devices and breathe new life into the repair markets. Subsequently, creating a new paradigm where devices have to be built to last longer instead. The phone makers will make money in other ways through spare parts and authorised repair shops. Though, there will be fewer new devices manufactured each year, which would be a more sustainable solution.

What future is ahead for Apple if Circular economies are put forward across European and UK Countries?

In short, they could be pushed out of the markets, leading to a ban across all European and British markets.

Which, of course, will affect many people who have Apple devices. More than enough reason to reject Apple Technologies and prepare for a more dynamic future then.
